The Executive Board is elected to serve the members of Alianza Latina. We facilitate weekly meetings, spend months organizing some of the largest social events of the Boston collegiate calendar and develop new programs to cater to the needs of our growing community.  Scroll down to find out more about each of us!

Riaz Butt-Garcia


Hi! My name is Riaz Butt-Garcia, and I am a Junior in the College of Arts & Sciences majoring in Economics and minoring in International Relations. I am originally from Revere, MA and I am half Honduran and half Pakistani. I’ve been a member of the board for the past three years and I am happy to be serving as the President this year! Outside of AL, you can probably find me at FitRec, BU Admissions, or eating Panda Express at the GSU. I look forward to continuing to grow our AL family on campus this year!

Aile Cheng


Hi everyone! My name is Aile Cheng and I’m a junior in the College of Communication majoring in public relations and minoring in political science. My family is Chinese, I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico and my mom is from Venezuela! I am so excited to be AL’s Internal Vice President this year. I’ve been a part of AL since my freshman year and I previously served as secretary. When I’m not in Boston, I’m back home in Brooklyn, NY. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you better!


Sammie Casas

Vice-President of External Affairs

Hi Y’all. My name is Sammie Casas and I am a third-year in the College of Arts and Sciences. I am currently studying International Relations with a minor in Spanish/Core Studies. My family is from Zacatecas, MX, but I grew up in Dallas, Texas for most of my life. Serving as the VP of External Affairs has been a great experience and the best way I could give my time to the club I call my home. You can find me around campus working at the Student Activities office or serving as a senator in the UNITY Party. Can’t Wait to get to know any future AL members <3


Naomi Padron

Events Coordinator

Hola a todos! I am Naomi Padron, a second year majoring in psychology & political science in the College of Arts and Sciences. I’m from the city that’s on the border and by the sea, Brownsville,TX and my family is from Mexico! I am very happy to be this year’s Event’s Coordinator, a step up from being Freshman Representative last year. I am excited to meet all of y’all and hope to have a good year!


Michael Alas


Hey guys! I’m Michael Alas and I’m a sophomore studying Psychology in CAS. I come from Chelsea, MA and I’m half Puerto Rican and half Honduran. I have really enjoyed being treasurer for Alianza Latina this year, it has been a great way for me to give back to the community that gave me such an amazing family! I hope to meet you all and create a welcoming home for everyone to join!


Jaylene Ramirez


Hello! My name is Jaylene Ramirez and I’m a Sophomore in Sargent College majoring in Health Science. I am from Whittier, California and my family is from Jalisco, Mexico. This is my first year on E-board and I’m loving every second of it! I’m so happy to be this year’s secretary and to continue to meet members!


Gabrielle Patterson

Community Outreach Director

Hi everyone! My name is Gabrielle Patterson I am a junior in Sargent majoring in Behavior and Health. I am from Lynn, MA and my family is from the Domican Republic. I have absolutely loved being this year’s Community Outreach Director after being on the Hermanos Committee last year. Being able to have such a big role in our Hermanos program has been so valuable and rewarding to grow the relationships within the club. I am very excited to meet all the new AL members!!


Julie Gomez

Public Relations Chair 

Hey :) My name is Julie Gomez, I am a sophomore in Sargent College majoring in Human Physiology and minoring in Psychology on a pre-medical track! I am from Bogota, Colombia and all of my family is from there too. I have been lucky enough to be the PR Chair for Alianza Latina! I love this job so much, it has allowed me to express myself creatively and have fun doing it while also being a part of such an amazing club and Executive Board. I can't wait to meet new AL members and create amazing memories together!


Rosa Rodriguez

Freshmen Representative

Hey everyone! My name is Rosa Rodriguez and I am a freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Biology. I am from Bridgeport, CT and my family is from El Salvador. I am very excited to be one of Alianza Latina’s Freshman representatives this year since it has become a home away from home! I’m looking forward to meeting you all this semester and see the AL family grow!


Benjamin Andres Johnson

Freshmen Representative

Hola! My name’s Benjamin Andres Johnson and I’m a freshman in the College of Arts & Sciences majoring in Political Science. I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and I am half Mexican half American. I am super happy to be a Freshman Rep for the Alianza Latina E-board this year! In my free time, you can find me either playing soccer, at the FitRec, or eating Canes in West. I look forward to meeting more people and growing the AL fam!
